Accounts of the American founding often focus on its roots in Greek, Roman, and Enlightenment thought. In this textbook, Gary Amos and Richard Gardiner explore how the Protestant Reformation also influenced the thinking of America’s Founders, supplying a foundation for core principles like the dignity of the individual, inalienable rights, government by consent of the governed, and the separation of church and state.
This beautifully illustrated account of America’s founding has been highly acclaimed and used in private and charter schools as well as homeschools. A teacher’s guide is also available. Published under the imprint of FTE Books.

Reviews
“Never Before is … of the highest scholarly quality and should be required reading for those who teach and those who take American History in all our schools.”
Prof. Harold J. Berman, Harvard Law School (emeritus)
“This book is a welcome ally in the battle to reclaim the noble heritage that our Founders have bequeathed to us. That heritage has been covered over, denied, and denounced for too long. Never Before in History shows, without a doubt, that the authentic legacy of the Founding deserves our full and unhesitating loyalty.”
Thomas G. West, author of Vindicating the Founders and Professor of Politics, Hillsdale College
As historians Gary Amos and Richard Gardiner show in their book Never Before in History, what’s especially American, and valuable, is our legacy of religious freedom… Never Before in History explains that our Constitution, our Bill of Rights, and our entire system of government work because their framers ‘drew their ideas about religious liberty and separation of church and state from Christian sources.
Chuck Colson, Founder, Prison Fellowship
Your project is important and should be a good corrective to the secularized history texts which omit the contribution of Christianity to American independence and culture.
Dr. Peter J. Stanlis, former member of the Board, National Council for the Humanities and author of Edmund Burke and the Natural Law
I read between one and two hundred books a year. It is seldom that I come across a book so informative and wise … in fact, (the authors) challenge and explode a paradigm that has been dominant for far too long… I trust you realize what a valuable property — literally a treasure — (this) book is, and I hope you have the vision to give this vitally important work to the nation.
Dr. Ronald Nash, former Professor of Reformed Theological Seminary, Orlando
